Wade’s priority is to model wellness with his clients. He understands diversity and inequality firsthand and has experienced the challenges that many marginalized clients such as those who are LGBTQ/2S face. Wade engages clients in a culturally responsive and socially just counselling process in which he pays attention to the social context of clients’ lives. He advocates for access to services, because social inequities limit these services and resources on the basis of gender diversity, ethnicity, age, ability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and/or religion. Wade is a gender-affirming counsellor who is sensitive to the needs of clients in their diversity and assesses and evaluates clients who require this sensitivity.
Wade is a member of the Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health (CPATH) and he is able to provide adult (18+) hormone replacement therapy (HRT) assessments across British Columbia and in other Canadian provinces.
Part of Wade’s ethical practice includes providing a certain percentage of counselling services on a sliding scale or on a pro bono basis to those who might not otherwise be able to afford or attend counselling services. Wade works with a number of colleagues in the professional world of counselling whom he can access for counselling support and referral purposes should you wish to seek additional therapeutic services from other qualified individuals.
